When I was young, I was consumed by fear of the end of the world. It didn’t help that my great grandma was a Jehova’s witness and I spent all my time on the internet reading UFO abduction forums. I remember asking my father about the apocalypse, imagining what it would look like, and trying to understand how it would all end. I cried after watching a NatGeo documentary about the sun exploding a gazillion years from now–I couldn’t help but feel anxious about the end of the world. Dad assured me that people have worried about the end of the world since the world began, a long time ago. It didn’t calm my fears much.
