In San Francisco, it’s hard to not feel like a total loser. I remember when I first moved here and modestly mentioned my past in Tokyo and London. I was one of many, in my techie dorm had did stint in Tokyo. Nobody was impressed, delightful. This was a stark difference to visits to my small town in Michigan where I was treated like a modern day Marco Polo.
I like San Francisco because it humbles me and challenges me to do bigger and greater than anywhere else. I love having my mediocrity pointed out to me if only to be the impetus for me to strive for more.
