Sure thing. McDonald’s is cheaper in Japan than in the US (and Europe for that matter) and housing is too.

I also got cosmetic surgeries and preventive botox as soon as I came to Japan and I’m still busy with hair removal. I don’t think I ever did those things because of Japan’s beauty standards though. Surgery were things that I did not like about myself and I got it as soon as I had the money to do it. I did try lip fillers because my friends were into it, but they were foreigners, not Japanese.

One thing that’s kind of freaky is that a lot of people start laser hair removal when they are underage, which you can do if you have your parent’s permission. That said, I would probably give permission myself to a child. Hair overall sucks to me because of being neurodivergent, the feeling of the hair just irks me. And for kids, they can get bullied for being hairy and things like shaving and waxing are also invasive

I totally get it! I had so much razer scars from hair it was so much easier to get laser. I continued laser when I moved to SF haha :)

This was a really interesting article about the positives of living in Japan. It is pretty nice and affordable for a job escape and new life. Very interesting point about the heavy pressures regarding appearance and the convenience of things. This was a great read
